Steve Jobs Stamp 2015

Rumor has it that Steve Jobs will get US postage stamp this year 2015. Jobs stamps will be printed on First-Class. There is no confirmation yet on when will this be first issued, numbers of prints, and denomination. As of January 7 by Washington Post, the stamp is still in design development stage.

Other highlights for 2015: soul singer James Brown, late-night TV host Johnny Carson and a reissue of Elvis Presley, the Postal Service’s top-selling stamp, released with a value of 29 cents  in 1993.

Steven Paul "Steve"Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American entrepreneur, marketer, and inventor, who was the cofounder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc.

Here one of my favorite quotes from Steve:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Canada-Israel 60 years of friendship

I was looking for random Canadian postage stamps and I stumbled on this one which I think is a very simple yet powerful image. This stamp was issue on April 14, 2010.

I think that there is so much in common on both Canada and Israel's prominent national symbols (Maple leaf for Canada and The Star of David). Both symbols can be found on the 2 countries' flags.

“Through illustration, we were able to communicate the rich topic of diplomacy between two nations,” explains designer Karen Henricks of the Toronto-based firm, q30 design. “Complex topics like this can be challenging to summarize in one small design. We worked with illustrator Yarek Waszul, whose simple yet conceptual style lends itself perfectly to this topic and the medium.”

Do you have this extra used stamp for trade/swap? Let me know!

Japan Trains

Hi! I have here 4 very interesting Nippon stamps about locomotives or trains. I do not have the exact date but these stamps were release on 1990 each in 62 Yen denomination.

There are 4 trains on this image each depicting a good labor of engineering and art...and to some, history.

Class 10000 [Upper Left].
Class 1000 electric locomotives were fist built on 1911. This locomotive type was pre-numbered from 10000 to EC40.

Class ED40 [Upper Right].
Was used from 1919-1951. Its the first Japanese domestically mass-produced Rack Track system electric locomotive.

You can find more locomotive/train stamps here:

Class EF58 [Lower Left]
It is a class of Japanese 2-C+C-2 wheel arrangement DC electric locomotives. 172 locomotives were built between 1946 and 1958.

Class ED70 [Lower Right]
Was produced on the Class ED45 basis. They were deployed on the Japan's first business AC electrified section between Tamura and Tsuruga on the Hokuriku line during October 1957.

And no I'm not an expert on trains. :P

If you have wonderful stamps, covers, and FDCs you wanted to share on this blog just let us know through our Facebook page so we can have a look.
